We would like to congratulate BGS Geography teacher and EPQ coordinator Rachel Atkins on gaining Lead Practitioner status. This is a nationally recognised status of excellent practice in education, awarded by . Individual accreditation allows practitioners to be celebrated and recognised for their excellent practice in education and is a significant professional achievement.
Gaining accreditation involves a rigorous evaluation process. Individuals must meet all key areas of the Lead Practitioner framework of professional standards. Reflecting on the accreditation process, Rachel commented:
“Completing this gave me a structured way to reflect on all the different areas of my practice, with the evidence having been collected over the last few years – which presented its own challenges –and allowed me to consider the impact it had, within and beyond my team at BGS.
“Gaining lead practitioner accreditation was a way of recognising the wide variety of work that I am involved with, from individuals in the BGS classroom to regional, national and international initiatives in teaching, assessments and independent learning, especially focused around EPQ and Geography.â€
We are delighted that Rachel’s expertise and excellence has been recognised in this way.
